Commander Cards MOST Worth Buying (March 2024)
My friend plays Derevi as a casual Birds Venturing Into The Dungeon commander. Literally the only thing this deck wants to do is get birds and finish a Dungeon, and then she doesn't care if she wins or loses. Well, needless to say, it's still Derevi, and it turns out this deck is lowkey fire and might be one of the best decks in the playgroup. Roaming Throne only made it better. This person also has an Oloro deck! And that was probably the source of the funniest moment our friend group has ever had when a different friend at the table spitefully tried to make sure I lost the game after killing her by making literally 16 million Scute Swarms with her infinite landfall combo deck just so the lifegain deck would gain that much life from another creature entering the battlefield, thereby nullifying any threat my commander Craig Boone had. And then I won anyway with commander damage. Ironically, the player behind the Oloro and Derevi decks is the least toxic person at the table and they're almost never actually trying to win. You wouldn't even know these commanders are toxic across from them at the table.
I actually just pulled a simulacrum synthesizer
Tbh a lot of people are starting to prefer running Talion over Notion Thief though due to the more long term card draw attached to a bigger body.
Charming Shaman 1G Creature - Human Shaman When ~ enters the battlefield, pick one: - Put target creature card in your graveyard on top of your library. - Look at the top 3 cards of your library. Reveal up to one land among them and put it on the battlefield tapped. Put the rest on the bottom of your library. - Deal 1 damage to each creature with Flying. 2/2
+1 removal and statics that the way to go
We have one. Knight of autumn +1/+1 counter, disenchant or gain 4 life.
Only the charmings are related, the other two are just similar enough to compare.
There are so many crap cards in Magic the gathering I would like to build a Commander deck of the worst cards possible and try to win at least once.
I really thought it would be mostly Jaces and a Teferi or two.
honestly, I don't use life total as a tiebreaker because I don't want to attack the stronger deck, I do it because if I am consistently attacking the strongest deck at the table, they are going to set their sights on me first, and against, say, an infect deck that is really good at being 3rd because people tend to gang up on them once one player is out, I don't want to be the one that gets taken out. I guess it goes with the whole staying quiet during combat thing tho too.
How about the card meditate?
Couldn’t agree with point #5 more. I’m constantly trying to hammer this home with my play group, but to no avail. To their credit they think I’m trying to 80/20 them, in this group we always assume the worst in each other’s intentions.
Just what the slow singleton format needs more of. Fast mana and cheap tutors.
Oh, Planes walker *card* . I thought you meant the most popular Planeswalker persona across all their cards, and so I was guessing the more big names.
The green one could be an ape cus It would give me Elder Silverback vibes 😂😂😂
I am thinking Destroy target artifact or enchantment, Target creature fights another, and either Search for a basic land (or) You may play an additional land (or) give a +1/+1 counter.
I really dont think that reprinting mana crypt will do what you think it will, they print more convention boosters every mtg conversation, and they're not that rare in draft packs, but the price doesnt go down by more than like 10$ for convention edition mana crypts
Sentinel of lost lore is the green one but it's almost all adventure based
I thought so too but it lets you choose all modes and is double green :(
Top 5 examples of cards I dont want in my decks
It will either be exactly Return to Nature or it will do the three green things: put a +1/+1 counter, fight another creature, or destroy an artifact or enchantment
Where is deathrite shaman at?
Gotta save the best for last, Green! 💚
Can someone explain to me why Thunder Spirit is that expensive? Is it from a rare set or was it short printed?
Destroy an artifact, destroy an enchantment, or have it fight another creature
I think a simple nyxbloom ancient would shatter a 2014 player's mind. Or maybe tibalt's trickery
The Eldraine ones aren’t part of the cycle, Kutzil’s Flanker in lost caverns of Ixalan was the white one
You should do a video on the cards you thought were bad and they definitely weren’t moon silver key comes to mind.
Gala greeters is sufficient enough
Where's Teneb, the Harvester
Grist…
damn thought tevesh svat would be on there
i think the Eldraine one you displayed was the one
That one is way too specific to actually be part of the cycle
Yeah that one is double green and allows you to choose all modes
@@NitpickingNerds you are right, so maybe we're going to see another one in the future
Considering how much each green creature gets in value nowadays, it feels like every green creature in the past five years is a part of this cycle
Weakest, no use her to shit bonehoard dragon on four!
Charming scoundrel is great at 2 mana
*Cankerbloom has entered the chat*
Tranquil frillback
Not a part of this cycle due to the effect being an activated ability and not an etb
Rushed rebrith and boros isnt bad at all youre never play the big guys on curve reanimate or ramp them into play early then you have a failsafe if it fails. Charms all belong exactly where they are. I main option with flex utility
Tranquil Frillback perhaps?
That would make sense actually, but i feel like it kinda cheats by being able to pick more than one mode unloke the rest and not giving anything base price
It'd be funny if the green was just a strictly better rec sage, which i do think we're due for • Destroy target artifact • Destroy target enchantment • Destroy target creature with flying
Make it a 3/3 for 3 or a 1/1 elf for 3 and bam. Instant staple
This must be made
I could see this, but I feel like they would bump it to 4 mana
@@Correctitudable ur forgetting power creep so it wil prob be a 4/2 for 3 mana
@@Correctitudable Frankly I could see them laying on the powercreep harder even beyond keeping it at three mana. Look at Loran of the Third Path for example
If we could get a card that cares about this type of modal card that would be phenomenal
Didn't we get that with the new riku in outlaws of thunder junction?
Like Riku of Many Paths? c:
@@laughingboy2550 yes
I feel like this is sarcasm
@@laughingboy2550 I wish it was the case, riku only functions with instants and sorceries. Because you choose the modes when it enters the battlefield it does not trigger riku.
I built this deck with academy Manufactor and thassa deep dwelling and other self blink cards to speed up clue generation. And then graf mole to sack clues to gain a crap ton of life, and then play cards that increase card advantage with creatures and change my millions of clues into creatures to swing for damage.
Was running a chiss goria when my best friend used Oko to turn my mana rocks and artifact lands into elks. Needless to say I was devasted.
Dude, I look down at my 2 standard commander decks I own and I see one of these 2 decks are the 5th spirit deck. I'm glad to know I've been sitting on a good deck all these years.
I run Mind's Eye in exactly one deck and that's Urza, Powerstone Prodigy: the mana-intensive nature of the card is served surprisingly well thanks to the wealth of Powerstones that the deck can generate and the fact that you're using Powerstone mana to pay for its triggered ability means that you're still able to hold up your regular mana for interaction. I'd say that the card ain't completely washed just yet. The other 4 cards are complete dogwater though, you won't find any argument from me there.
_____ Goblin would be something nobody would figure how it works back then
Jace the Jacewalker, Guy Tefferi Carnival Eats, Ugin Who Gets None, Nissan GT-R Pathfinder, and.... 12 Chandras tied for 5th.
Hey, one outta five ain't bad.
Krond is my favorite
This has probably been said by people a billion times but why does walking into a trapped room in the undercity deal damage to a player of your choice? Do you see the trap in the room and through someone else into it?
I think these cards being newer (and more known) plus being cheaper $ helps being included more. Elspeth should be more played but is probably forgotten about. Ugin is expensive but solid.
Well I got exactly none of them right but: Chandra, Torch of Defiance Karn, Scion of Urza Ugin the spirit dragon Ob Nixilis, Reignited Nissa, Vital Force So I guess what I'm saying is my playgroup doesn't like meta cards.
Didn't even know 2-5 existed lol
